Neuromancer

William Gibson

5/5

"I loved it"

An excellent read. It was originally published in 1984, and Neuromancer was the first book ever to write about “the matrix” and “cyberspace”. Despite being published 9 years apart, there is a striking similarity between this and the later Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson— it’s as if they were written by the same person. Both are among the best sci-fi works I’ve read to date.

Though Neuromancer is part of a trilogy, I probably won’t be reading more— I’m just not that invested in the world William Gibson built. Regardless, he’s a skilled writer, and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sci-fi. There’s a reason it won both the Hugo and Nebula award for Best Novel.
